Josh moved to Oregon in 1996 to escape the Iowa winters, summers, springs, and falls of his youth. He flipped burgers at McDonald’s for 3 months before getting hired as Animal Health Associate’s first-ever male receptionist. Having worked for a vet in Iowa, he had the required experience to challenge the state boards when AHA needed another CVT in 1998. He became our fourth CVT at the time. He spent a few years at another hospital in town, but came back to AHA in 2007, and has been here ever since. In April of 2020, he was promoted to Hospital Administrator. MacKenzie was born in Montana and grew up in Idaho, dreaming of working in the veterinary field. She spent time in human medicine as a hospice nurse but eventually decided to pursue her lifelong interest and earned a degree in Veterinary Technology from the College of Southern Idaho with high honors. She moved to Eugene in 2009 and joined Animal Health Associates in 2013.
She has no human children, but plenty of fuzzy ones. She seems to attract the stray and castoff variety, so some of her furry family members include Mouse, the three-legged wonder cat, a less-than-brilliant Italian greyhound, and an abandoned Easter rabbit with a severe spinal injury.
She takes a special interest in client education, dentistry, pain management, anesthesiology, and rabbit medicine, and hopes to attain her Veterinary Technology Specialty Certification in Dentistry or Clinical Practice in the near future. In her spare time, she enjoys being crafty and antique shopping.
MacKenzie is also our AAFP Cat Advocate, helping ensure that we provide the best possible care to our feline patients.
Shayna was born and raised in central California and moved to Corvallis in 2003. In her free time, she enjoys graphic design, gaming, reading curled up with her three fluffs, and hanging out with her husband.
After moving to Oregon as a young child, I grew up on a 20-acre ranch on the outskirts of Eugene. My family owned a travelling petting farm and horseback riding center so I was constantly around animals growing up. I spent most of my childhood riding horses, tending to the animals, and befriending any stray cats that would show up on our property. Around age eleven I started to bring home sick and injured animals to nurse them back to health, which drove my parents crazy. I have the world’s sweetest black lab named Zeke; a spicy, special needs black cat named Ed, two kittens Lola Marie and Theodore who are foster fails, and two senior horses named Whinny and Buttons. In my free time I enjoy fostering kittens for local rescues, drawing, working out, flow arts, yoga, and spending time with my pets and boyfriend.
Jorge has lived in Oregon his entire life and loves being in the outdoors with his dogs; either hiking or camping. His favorite dog ever was his miniature schnauzer who was grumpy but so kind and loved being around people. He has also had many different pets throughout his life such as bunnies, dogs, cats, hamsters, and lizards.

She also has 2 full size horses, a mini Donkey properly named Diablo, a menagerie of chickens and goats, and a mischievous kitty named Johnny Cash.
Marina was born and raised in Arizona and moved to Eugene in 2021. She comes from a family of animal lovers and grew up with a variety of critters in the household at all times. Her passion for animals grew in 2016 when she took a 2 year veterinary assistant program which included an externship at a veterinary clinic. Marina took some time off working with animals to become a pre-school teacher which she did for 4 years. In 2022, she decided to work with animals again and joined Animal Health Associates as a receptionist and has worked her way up to becoming an assistant. She is now training to become a technician. She plans on taking her CVT class in the next coming years to further her passion in the field.
