Fleas, Ticks, and Other Parasites
The Problem with Parasites
Fleas, ticks, and other parasites can be the bane of a dog or cat's existence. While in some cases they are just an annoyance,
in other cases they can lead to severe problems such as allergic reactions, pyoderma ("hot spots"), anemia, and Lyme disease.
Worst of all, many of these parasites live on humans as well, and can bring these same diseases to our families.
This is why it's important to keep pet parasite populations under control.
Year-Round Parasite Control
Fleas, ticks, and other parasites have complex life cycles, and getting rid of them is not easy. For mild infestations a single treatment with a preventative may temporarily bring the problem under control, but the problem will return later. If multiple pets in the house have fleas, or if the problem is severe, a more aggressive approach may be necessary. Our climate here in Eugene is very pleasant for fleas - they don't die out in the winter as in some parts of the country, and the level of humidity is near-perfect for their development. This is why we recommend year-round parasite control.
We have a wide range of products for treating fleas, ticks and other parasites, but most important, we have the knowledge to help you get the problem under control, and to treat any resulting conditions. If fleas or ticks are bugging you - call us today!
